We present you a wonderful house with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The house consists of 4 floors, connected to each other by an elevator. The entrance floor is made up of a large living-dining room, from which you have access to the porch of the house, where we have the summer dining room and the private pool of the house. This floor, which is the social area of the house, is completed with a guest toilet and a large kitchen with a pantry. The next floor consists of two bedrooms, the main one with a dressing room and en-suite bathroom and a living area or office, and another bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The next floor is made up of two other large bedrooms, which share a bathroom, which in addition to the shower has a double jacuzzi. On this floor we can also enjoy a beautiful solarium terrace. The floor minus one houses the service area, with a bedroom and bathroom, as well as other elements that make up a large home; the laundry room, a storage room and another used as a trunk, a large garage and the utility room.
In the construction of this house, the energy efficiency of the house has been taken into account. For this reason, the house has been equipped with geothermal energy, solar panels, and a rainwater tank, as well as a device for charging vehicles. This has ensured that energy costs are really very low, being an average of €180 per month, certainly very low for a house of this size and equipment. The house has a very avant-garde design, and has been a finalist in several architecture awards. The façade of the house is smooth and sophisticated, using folded trays of champagne-coloured aluminium on a stone base, also used to finish the floors. The openings are resolved using folded sheet metal frames of the same colour, simplifying the carpentry-shutter-window sill into a single element. In the afternoon, the house emits soft golden reflections over the Colonia Leonesa.
The project occupies one of the few corners of the Colonia, facing south, with views towards the golden domes of the Russian-Orthodox Church of La Magdalena. Building regulations require the construction of a compact volume surrounding a small backyard. The project resolves a single-family program on three floors. The staircase becomes the center of the house, organizing a void into which the study-library and the entrance are located. The living room connects the two outdoor spaces: the backyard and the corner garden. The ground floor takes advantage of the street below to house a large garage.
The Colonia Leonesa was a group of low-rise houses built in the early 1950s in the eastern Madrid district of Hortaleza. For years, its sunny houses and gardens resisted the pressure of Greater Madrid, whose crowning moment was the opening of the Gran Vía de Hortaleza. Today, the Colonia Leonesa is a lower-density area in an environment of large blocks, which still makes it incredibly attractive.
